This glorious fully working steam engine is a faithful scaled recreation of the traction engines manufactured by Charles Burrell and Sons. As most people become discouraged by the magnitude of the task, few of the replica engines actually get fully assembled. They are either left in a shed unfinished or completed by someone else. However, as you can see from these photographs, this Burrell traction engine has been finished to the highest of manufacturing standards possible. Including the painting, the traction engine you see in these photographs is the work of one man: It took K six hundred hours, divided over three years of his life, to achieve his goal of building a replica traction engine. As coach lining and signwriting is not one of K’s many skills, I was contacted to add the finishing touches. Excluding twenty-six hours travelling time to where the engine was situated, it took me eighty-three hours labour time to coachline and sign write this Burrell traction engine.
